Blue-Ringed Octopuses Bouncing Bubbles Painting

I really enjoy painting. I wish I could dedicate more of my time to creating new stuff but it’s hard to fit a hobby into life with kids, being a student, and working.

So the only way that I can paint is either during the baby’s nap time, or late at night when the house is asleep when no one can bother me.

Right now it’s that time for me – late at night and I have some freedom to do whatever until like 3AM.

Earlier this week I finally completed a painting that I have been working on for a while now. It’s a coverup from another project that I started about a year ago and then lost interest in.

It was supposed to be of the fairgrounds, but again it was becoming too much work and I figured it was time to start over.

I decided I wanted to try something different. I had no idea where to begin so I started with making bubbles all over the place. I used a toilet paper roll and a cup to make the bubble outlines, then filled them in with vibrant colors.

They came out like crap.

I dumped black paint on the canvas and began the process over again. This time I did each of the bubbles freehand. This took so much time and effort but it came out better than the first attempt.

It was coming out okay.

I’m not a professional, most of the time I don’t like anything that I create. But this one felt like it would be a unique piece.

At this point I had no clue on what else to add into it. I thought it would be cool to add in some sea creatures, so I went with blue-ringed octopuses. They have such fabulous and vibrant colors.

I made some quick outlines of octopuses before moving on the detailing process. I’ve never painted them before.

Very time-consuming, frustrating, and meticulous. It took a few weeks to get it finished and just in time before the start of the next college semester.

I’m glad it’s over and that I actually completed something instead of giving up.

I think it came out pretty cool. Both of my kids really like this painting too.

The final piece is called “Blue-Ringed Octopuses Bouncing Bubbles” – an underwater landscape scene of blue-ringed octopuses bouncing around bubbles for fun.

Nothing special and it’s not perfect, but it’s definitely unique.

Now that it’s complete, it’s time to move on and finish something else that I’ve started.
